The significance of
"The Edge" is
taken from Romans 13:11-12, which talks about how we as Christians are on the
edge of eternity.
The hour has come for you to
wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when
we first believed. The night is nearly over; the day is almost
here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the
armor of light.
---Romans 13:11-12
In
other words, we only have so much time here on this earth to be able to share
our love for Jesus with our friends. We want to make the most of the
opportunities that God puts in our path.
| Be wise in the
way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity.
Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so
that you may know how to answer everyone.
Colossians
4:5-6 |
|
We don't know when Christ may return. We don't know if we are going to be alive
tomorrow. Or if, due to circumstances, you might have to
move away from your friends. It all comes down to us realizing that life is
short and we need to make the most of it for Christ.
"Why, you do not
even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that
appears for a little while and then vanishes." James 4:13-16
We want to live life on
the edge!
We want to be
bold
in telling people of the love
of Jesus Christ!!
"But make sure
that you don't get so absorbed and exhausted in taking care of all your
day-by-day obligations that you lose track of the time and dose off, oblivious
to God. The night is about over, dawn is about to break. Be up and
awake to what God is doing! God is putting the finishing touches on the
salvation work he began when we first believed. We can't afford to waste a
minute, must not squander these precious daylight hours in frivolity and
indulgence, in sleeping around and dissipation, in bickering and grabbing
everything in sight. Get out of bed and get dressed! Don't loiter
and linger, waiting until the very last minute. Dress yourselves in
Christ, and be up and about!"
Romans 13:11-13, The Message
"Don't love the
world's ways. Don't love the world's goods. Love of the world
squeezes out love for the Father. Practically everything that goes on in
the world--wanting your own way, wanting everything for yourself, wanting to
appear important--has nothing to do with the Father. It just isolates you
from Him. The world and all its wanting, wanting, wanting is on the way
out--but whoever does what God wants is set for eternity."
1 John 2:15-17, The Message
